Location. The Parc St. Charles, New Orleans, La., offers the best of both worlds: a downtown location where the historic St. Charles Avenue streetcar line intersects with the bustling business corridor. Between the streetcar line and one of the Big Easy's best carnival corners, St. Charles Avenue and Poydras Street, the 11 story hotel in Lafayette Parc is located four blocks from the French Quarter and five blocks from Bourbon Street. The hotel also stands just three blocks from the Warehouse District, an eclectic neighborhood where visitors browse through art galleries and boutiques.
Hotel Features. Prior to the building of the Parc St. Charles, the area was occupied by French Quarter style row houses lining Poydras Street to Lafayette Square. During the Louisiana oil boom of the 1970s and 1980s, the hotel was built and housed a branch of the Bank of Louisiana. Cocktails are relished at the hotel's Corner Pub, a popular bar that overlooks Poydras Street, and Panasia, the fine dining establishment that dishes up Oriental and contemporary American dishes, such as rib eye steaks and braised lamb shanks. Complimentary breakfasts are available each morning. Business needs are met with complimentary wireless Internet access, business services and meeting facilities that overlook Lafayette Parc. To get away from the crowds, a retreat to the scenic rooftop uncovers a small, heated pool and sundeck. A fitness room is located on site.
